These workshops will bring together a group of committed young songwriters and musicians who live in the Kaipara region to collaborate and write, record and perform songs together. If further funding is found, more workshops and get-togethers will take place later in 2023.

No. The workshops and tutorials in February are fully funded by Creative Northland so there is no cost.

We are looking for beginner songwriters as well as experienced songwriters and musicians. We are looking for rangatahi who would like to collaborate and work with other young musicians.

The workshops will be held in Mangawhai at Te Whai Community Trust rooms, 73 Moir Street, Mangawhai (next to the Mangawhai Domain).

We will coordinate carpooling rides where we can to help the songwriters get to the workshops.

All the songs composed during the workshops series will be recorded and videoed at the final workshop. Songwriters will each receive a copy of the audio and video.

DO PARTICIPANTS NEED TO REGISTER?

 

All participants need to register to help us understand their musical interests and background. If you have written songs before, sending in a video (or link to a video) of a performance of one or two original songs would be super helpful. We will meet each of the participants online or in person before the first workshop.
